UniFi External Captive Portal & RADIUS for Guest Wi-Fi – Setup Guide

UniFi's external portal approves guests through the UniFi controller, not RADIUS.

  1. Hotspots → Add router → Brand UniFi and fill in: controller URL, the site ID (from the controller address /manage/<site-id>/), and a local admin user that may authorise guests.
  2. UniFi → Settings → Guest Hotspot → Authentication External Portal Server → enter the WiFiNexa server IP / host.
  3. Pre-authorization (walled garden): the hosts from the setup guide.
  4. Turn on the hotspot portal for the guest SSID.

Time, speed and data limits are passed to UniFi when the guest is approved. Live sessions and data usage are tracked by UniFi, not WiFiNexa.
